Series four of my ethical fashion guide showcases the beautiful craftsmanship of India, Nepal, Turkey and Malawi. We planned our exotic photoshoot in the small village of San Marcos la Laguna here on Lake Atitlan and worked with local photographer Andrea Lobos from Coban, Guatemala!
This post will highlight a more elegant style while still wearing traditional patterns and global prints. Proving you do not have to being boring when attending a more sophisticated affair. And in the end, I throw back on my t-shirt to show how quickly you can transition this look to an everyday style. I am so honored to feature another amazing set of ethical, fair and sustainable brands supporting women and artisans around the world.
From India and Nepal, Mata Traders emerged as an ethical brand helping to end global poverty. Mata means "Mother" in Hindi and is a tribute to the female creative power in all of us. I am inspired by this brand's mission and proud to be a part of that voice by bringing their quality handiwork to the socially conscious, stylishly adventurous woman.
A Peace Treaty is a brand I've previously mentioned, and they work with artisans in various countries such as Pakistan, Turkey, and Peru. From the highest peaks of the Andes, to the Himalayan valleys, to the deserts of South Asia, this brand sees itself as champions for slow fashion and preservationists of centuries-old techniques.
The show-stopping crop top and skirt set comes to us all the way from Malawi, Africa. The Mayamiko brand represents on trend fashion with a heart. Mayamiko pieces are created with bold traditional African printed cotton, known locally as chitenje, as well as other unique fabrics from neighboring African countries, all sourced at the local markets.
Enjoy! xx Alyssa

After the stray kitty cuddles and cat hair everywhere, it was time for a wardrobe change ;)
The view from this location in San Marcos on Lake Atitlan was absolutely breathtaking. After taking it all in, it was time to get more comfy to just enjoy Mother Nature and appreciate all of her.
Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.
