B Corps: Best For The World 2018
The B Corps just announced in Best in the World nominations for all the companies part of their network and we are honored to be recognized!
For those of you that do not know, B Corp is to business what Fair Trade certification is to coffee or USDA Organic certification is to milk. B Corps are for-profit companies certified by the nonprofit B Lab to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.
The B Corps exists to inform and inspire people who have a passion for using business as a force for good in the world. And to validate that businesses can do good and turn a profit. More companies have begun to build in philanthropic and other giveback initiatives into their business operations. And the B Corps is a neutral party that analyzes the validity of each companies give back.
There are nearly 3,000 Certified B Corps in the world, from over 50 different countries. Out of the 385 Certified B Corps in Latin America, Hiptipico was part of the 143 selected for the top spots in 2018. Of the 143, Hiptipico was top 5 of all Central America and the ONLY business out of Guatemala receiving this honor!
We are so humbled by the B Corps process and appreciate their rigorous standards. We are even more excited to be recognized for the specific category of COMMUNITY. The Community section from the Best For The World list means that we have successfully built caring for the community into our business model.
To earn a spot on the Best For The World: Community list, a company must score in the top 10 percent of all B Corps on the Community portion of the B Impact Assessment. This section evaluates a company’s supplier relations, diversity, and involvement in the local community.
